1/4/2024 0 Comments Mini vise gripsWhen we compared the jaw style to some of the other models of Vise-Grips in our collection, it quickly became evident that these jaws are designed for grabbing onto round, square, hex, or just about any type of bolt or nut. The last big feature that we noted on the new Irwin Vise-Grip Fast Release locking pliers is the curved jaw. “The Original” Curved Jaw Vise-Grips (top) New Fast Release Curved Jaw Vise-Grips (bottom) Curved Jaws and a Fast Release Also, if the Irwin Vise-Grip Fast Release locking pliers grip too tightly on a workpiece, use this same hex key hole to release some of the pressure and allow the pliers to unlock easier. Once you have the pliers locked on your workpiece, if you need just a little more pressure, just insert an Allen wrench and give the adjusting screw a slight turn to adjust the jaw pressure and help draw materials together. One of the other nifty features that also stood out to us was that the adjustment screw on the end of the handle has a hex key hole. From what we can tell, these new pliers open about two times easier than “The Original” Vise-Grips once they are locked on something. Now, with just one hand, you simply put a little pressure on the inside of the handles and they just click open. Also, there is no more release lever to make the pliers open once they are locked closed. Where these new pliers depart from “The Original” style Vise Grips is that they have anti-pinch, non-slip ProTouch Grips on the handles. The teeth are further ground and hardened to make sure that you get a solid grip on your workpiece. All the Irwin Vise-Grip Fast Release Curved Jaw locking pliers are made of high-grade, heat-treated, alloy steel that is supposed to ensure toughness and durability. loose/dont have a file handle or save bulk in your pack by not bringing the file handle and pocket grips. who needs a folding saw ? So I currently use the grip-on brand to carry and use. I have several pairs of usa vise grip brand pocket pliers but they stay in my main tool chest because in scared of losing them. So you can buy them off the snap-on truck and pay double -or- you can order a pair off amazon. So I'd reccomend finding a good used pair at a yard sale or pawn shop or, another alternative is a brand called grip-on made in Spain, I've found these to be very good quality and also found out that grip-on makes locking pliers for snap-on tools. But they still work, the build quality lacks though. I've found the newer china models to be inferior quality compared to the old usa ones. The vise-grip brand locking pliers used to be made in the USA and the modern ones are China made. I'm not gonna post too much at once but this will be updated often. Please feel free to add any tips or tricks you know to this thread. For me this is the perfect combination and what I can get done with those 3 things amazes me sometimes. I have a leather tool pouch I belt carry mine in along with a led maglite and a swiss army knife. I used to know an old farmer and he turned me on to this a long time ago and he carried a pair in his overall bib pocket. Ok, so I'm starting this thread in praise of the pocket sized vise grips and the thousands of uses it has and why you should include a pair in your EDC or kit.
